A cerebellar Purkinje neuron fires two types of action potentials. Na dependent fast action potentials(Na spikes) fire at the cell body. Ca dependent slow action potentials(Ca spikes) fire at the dendrites. When the cell fires action potentials, the intracellular Ca concentration increases transiently.
